Our retirement application is online

You can start receiving retirement benefits as early as age 62, but choosing this option will result in a permanent reduction of your monthly benefit amount. To begin receiving Social Security benefits, you can apply up to 4 months before you want payments to start.

If you do not qualify for your own retirement benefit or your benefit amount is minimal, you may be eligible to receive benefits based on your spouse’s earnings record. You can conveniently apply for spouse’s benefits online using our retirement application.

Spouse’s benefits can commence as early as age 62. If you are caring for the worker’s child under age 16 or a disabled child who became disabled before age 22, you can receive spouse’s benefits at any age. Your spouse must already be receiving benefits for you to qualify based on their record.

Divorced spouses can also apply using our online application. To learn more about benefits for divorced spouses, visit our webpage titled “Who can get Family benefits.”

For detailed guidance on applying online for retirement, spouse’s, or Medicare benefits, refer to our publication, “How to Apply Online For Retirement, Spouses, or Medicare Benefits.”
