LYNDONVILLE, Vt. — Vermont State Police say an altercation over child visitation led to charges against a man who allegedly abused a kitten.

Twenty-eight-year-old Daniel C. Berube was charged with aggravated domestic assault, disorderly conduct, vandalism and animal cruelty after the incident Sunday.

Police say Berube got angry and slammed a kitten’s head in a door and screamed obscenities at its owner, 23-year-old Christina Hall, of Lyndonville.

One of the charges stemmed from a Sept. 26 incident in which Berube allegedly ran over Hall’s leg with his vehicle.

Police say that after he was taken into custody, Berube kicked open a door at the state police’s St. Johnsbury barracks, causing the door handle to punch a hole in the wall.
