BENNINGTON -- Police are seeking the public's help with identifying the person or persons who left a blanket with several dead kittens inside at the Morgan Street Cemetery.

Bennington Police Officer Anthony Silvestro said the blanket was found at the cemetery Monday.

Wrapped inside were three dead kittens that were wet and appeared to have been drowned, as well as two live kittens and one older cat.

Silvestro said the dead kittens were removed by the town's animal control officer. The live kittens were taken by an employee of the Second Chance Animal Shelter.

Police are hoping someone will recognize the blanket. Anyone with information is asked to call the Bennington Police Department at 442-1030.
