Man charged in animal cruelty case

Times Argus Staff
ST. ALBANS A St. Albans man has been charged with assaulting a juvenile, as well as aggravated cruelty to animals, according to Vermont State Police.

Police said Monday that Scott Clark, 28, assaulted an unidentified juvenile on several occasions in December while living in Sheldon. He later threatened to kill the family dog, Chopper, and subsequently stabbed the dog in the chest with a kitchen knife.

Clark also pierced the ears of the family cat, Shadow, and both ears became infected, police said.

The animals were surrendered to the St. Albans Humane Society and have recovered.

Clark was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault and aggravated cruelty to animals. He was further charged with violation of parole by the Department of Corrections and was returned to jail.
